well, robin, i emailed you personally on accident...but i'll repeat some of it for the list:
forgive me if i stepped on toes. having been involved in the industry both as a musician and as a manager, my understanding of this issue has been that if a recording is out-of-print or unavailable for sale, then it can be recorded for others to hear as long as no one is gaining any monetary benefit. i certainly was intending to do this just to get the music out there. i realize that different labels / artists may have different viewpoints on this issue. i would never offer to tape "deep blue" or "rapture" - that defeats the whole "support indie music" thing.
when i called eastern front in june, they were pretty certain that the out of print cd's would not be reprinted. and, yes, rain may be purchased at the shows from peter, but how do people who never get to see shows (like us here in texas, for example) get to buy these recordings?
hopefully, young / hunter will get the other cd's rereleased, because there are some great sounds to be heard. but in the meantime, are the people who want to hear the out of print stuff just out of luck?
