I just bought the new CD, Trouble With Poets, at a show that Peter did with David Goodrich, in Monterey, California. Great show, great album! This is more of a colaboration with David and Peter, than a solo effort. it has a more produced edge, like Deep Blue, but not as heavy. The writing has strong poetic imagery and honesty, without being sappy. Good strong grooves, as can be expected, and the songs don't all sound the same, like most "folk" artists. A few songs we have heard before, like Trouble With Poets and Tender Blindspot (off Glencree). There is also a Fats Waller tune, refreshing to have a contemporary hat tip to a master. And the live show? personally, my favorite thing about his shows is the fact that he makes himself accessable to his fans. He'll sit and talk to you, and he's genuinely enjoying himself on stage. I would normally gush about his guitar and vocal style, but you must know that already, if you are reading this far down... That is, unless you think this is an Interpretation of Dreams website! I live in Long Beach, California, and happily drove the 350 miles to see the show in Monterey! I suggest you see him as often as you can and bring some friends. Maybe I'll see you at a show!
