Dependent Care Spending Account
A spending account to help you make the most of every dollar you earn. The Dependant Care Spending Account allows you to pay some of your day care expenses in a way that reduces your taxes. Also, Cingular helps you out by adding a matching contribution for employees with at least two years of recognized service.

  • If you have less than two years of Cingular service as of the transition date, you can contribute up to $5,000 on a before-tax basis.
  • If you have at least two years of Cingular service (includes past service with your parent company), Cingular will match 25% of your Dependent Care Spending Account contributions. The maximum contribution you can make is $4,000. For example, if you contribute $4,000, Cingular will contribute $1,000 in matching funds. That gives you an account balance of $5,000 while only contributing $4,000. That’s hard to beat!
  • Eligible expenses for the Dependent Care Spending Account can only be reimbursed up to the amount in your account.

Transitioning to the Edge
If you currently participate in your parent company’s Dependent Care Spending Account, you can reimburse yourself for eligible expenses until the day you transition to the new Cingular benefits—November 30, 2001 or December 31, 2001, depending on your parent company's transition date.

Although you can submit bills for expenses until March 31, 2002, you must have incurred the expenses before your official transition date. You forfeit any money still left in your account after March 31, 2002.
