Accomplishments
- Created extranet site for salespeople, allowing them to configure complex orders online, save, and communicate with production.
Tasks: Created relational SQL database, created secure site and maintained database of userIDs, passwords, automated system for users, etc. Wrote dynamic pages using HAHTTalk coding language (Visual Basic variant), HTML and CSS
- Created website for customers using Visual Basic and relational databases (SQL, SQL Server) to allow a more interactive web experience.
Tasks: Developed bulletin board system, interactive site sections (such as ‘Configure Your Own System’, and contests), with proven ‘repeat visit’ attraction. Automated site and marketing management. Created secure section for clients to change their own information, allowing site users to have more control while also saving approximately 6 hours a month spent maintaining information for users.
- Designed and managed the production of a redesigned State government website (Georgia Division of Public Health).
Tasks: Complete graphic and technical redesign of website (graphic, HTML, CSS). Designed usability tests, and executed them statewide. Authored JavaScript and Perl code. Reorganized site structure and directories for clearer, more logical process. Drafted policies, created guideline documents for designers to assure consistent visual interface, managed junior developers and interactions with technical staff (server administrator, database administrator) and public health officials.
- Managed creation of CD-ROM version of United States federal website (Centers for Disease Control’s Tuberculosis site), for users with poor or no internet access.
Tasks: Redesign of website for CD (graphic and HTML), created autorun.exe, wrote README instructions for non-Windows users, rewrote server-based code for freestanding machines (ASP and JavaScript). Procured budget, arranged for duplication, labeling and shipping of 10,000 CDs to international divisions and affiliates of the CDC.
- Designed and created interactive Macromedia Flash for Philips USA website.
Tasks: Worked with Philips Design Atlanta to ensure proper use of Philips and TiVo brand graphics, created graphic design, look and feel of interactive project. Wrote ActionScript for interactivity, chose and mixed music, created looped soundtrack, created animated GIFs for linking from main PhilipsUSA.com website. Application was highly successful, and ran on Philips’ site for over a year.
- Managed migration of web serving from co-located hosting to internal server, resulting in an annual operation cost savings of over $20,000USD annually.
Tasks: Installed and tested server hardware and software, arranged installation of T1 cable, ported content and code from external (UNIX) hosting to internal (WindowsNT, Microsoft IIS) site. Comprehensive report for marketing and I.T. departments to prove viability and benefits. Procured budget, purchased software and hardware.
- Maintained and marketed mailing lists for large electronics firm (Exide) and major airline (Airtran). Lists ranged from 25,000 to 50,000 opt-in members.
Tasks: Wrote content and proofread outside source material. Marketed lists through online campaigns. Back-end management of mass-mailing software, response to subscriber issues (unsubscribes, technical problems, complaints, redirecting valid questions to appropriate personnel).
- Provided expert design consultation for Accenture (Atlanta office), in a bid for a Bank of America eCommerce site.
Tasks: Designed graphic mock-ups of site (design and usability), envisioned technical issues and prepared for them, created proposed relational database for bid meeting. Developed guides for use during bid meeting explaining technologies, design decisions, and usability issues. Prepared marketing personnel for independent meeting with bank.
